Property Taxes in France: A Guide for International Owners

Annual property taxes

Owners pay taxe foncière (an annual property tax based on rental value). Since 2023 the taxe d'habitation no longer applies to primary residences, though secondary-home rules can differ.

Rental income tax

Rental income earned in France is taxable in France. Furnished short-term lets fall under specific regimes that can allow deductions for costs and depreciation. Tax treaties (such as the US–France treaty) help avoid double taxation.

Working with your accountant

We work alongside your accountant to keep reporting compliant and provide the financial records short-term rental tax filings require.
